E-Cigarettes: A Smoker’s Aid to Quit Smoking?

Teachers and experts talk about the dangers of cigarette smoking. Even advertisements highlight the adverse effects of smoking on one’s health; packages come with graphic warnings. But still, smokers smoke, sometimes out of habit and other times due to nicotine addiction.

But there is a way to give up the dangerous habit, and it doesn’t have to involve going “cold turkey.” If you’ve found the latter approach as ineffective, you could consider a starter kit of e-cigarettes.
What are e-cigarettes?

Electronic or e-cigarettes are battery-operated devices that mimic the feeling of smoking tobacco—without the nicotine for some products. What it does is heat a liquid, typically with flavor, to produce aerosol (or vapor), which you inhale.

The nicotine in e-cigarettes can go from zero to “extra high.” Each kit will come with a heating element, a cartridge, rechargeable batteries, and electronic circuits. In 2014, about 3.7 adults in the US were using it and in 2015 usage went up to 900 percent. So it is popular.
How does it help smokers quit?

The thing that makes cigarettes toxic to one’s health is the tar and carbon monoxide that you inhale when smoking. Nicotine can cause addiction but it doesn’t cause cancer; tar does.

E-cigarettes are seen as an effective way to help smokers quit because they allow smokers to slowly wean from smoking at their own pace. For starters, one can choose the level of nicotine to use. Immediately choosing the lowest level will definitely make it harder for smokers to quit because of withdrawal symptoms.

When it comes to quitting smoking, taking it slowly with the help of e-cigarettes can definitely make the quitting process a lot easier and not to mention, successful.

Were you thinking of quitting smoking soon? If going cold turkey hasn’t worked, e-cigarettes could help you reach your goal sooner.
